Formally known as the Royal Dublin Society and was established in 1731 to promote and develop agriculture, arts, industry and science in Ireland. Located in Ballsbridge Dublin 4, the RDS Conference Village, Exhibition Halls is a venue for many national and international conferences and events throughout the year.
Each year the RDS is home to the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition, a school science competition with entries from across Ireland. The Dublin Horse Show, first held in 1868, is a high profile international show which draws people from around the world, both spectators and competitors, and is a great family event. The RDS is the home to Leinster Rugby and home games for the Rabo Direct PRO12. The Heineken Cup and pre season games are also placed here.
Over the years, many concerts have taken place in the grounds of the RDS such as Bruce Springsteen, and the Eurovision Song Contest back in 1988 was hosted from the Simmons Court Pavilion. The RDS facilities also plays host to University College Dublin (UCD) and Trinity College Dublin exams each year.
The RDS is well known for being the largest Conference & Events Centre in Ireland comprising of over 22,000 sq metres of floor space, 13 large halls, and 15 Breakout rooms so it is ideal for that special event you had in mind.
