Formally known as the Royal Dublin Society and was established in 1731 to promote and develop agriculture, arts, industry and science in Ireland. Located in Ballsbridge Dublin 4. The RDS has many Exhibition Halls and is a venue for many different events throughout the year.
Each year the RDS is home to the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition, a school science competition with entries from across Ireland. Dublin Horse Show, was first held in 1868, this high profile International show draws people from around the world, spectators and competitors and is a great family event with Aga Kah Cup and Ladies Day there is something for all to enjoy
The RDS is also the home to Leinster Rugby, and home games for the Rabo Direct PRO12 and the Heineken Cup and pre season games are placed here.
Over the years many concerts have taken place in the grounds of the RDS, such as Bruce Springsteen, and the Eurovision Song Contest back in 1988 was hosted from the Simmons court Pavilion. The RDS facilities also plays host to University College Dublin (UCD) and Trinity College Dublin exams each year
