UCD was founded in 1854 and was known as the Catholic University of Ireland. For over 150 years UCD has educated students in the fields of Engineering and Architecture, Human Sciences, Law, Medicine and Health Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Agri-Food and the Environment. University College Dublin can be proud of the many graduates it has produced, some of whom are known the world over, such as James Joyce, who, in 1902 graduated with his Bachelor of Arts.
Today UCD continues to change and develop. A new sport centre has opened with a state of the art gym and an Olympic size swimming pool.
